Yea...now hopefully the ink is worth the paper

Harry/Hermione
New news today...all 12 million copies of Deathly Hallows will be printed on recycled paper.

Hopefully she'll actually make it not a waste of ink and paper, though I'm not holding my breath.   Since the last one...not so much.

On another note, has anyone, besides me, seen the "Hermione" on G4TV on the dish, on their "geek fantasies" vinette...Trying to make sure that I'm not going insane.  Let's just say that if you haven't that she's lost any "ugly duckling" issues long since.   Though frankly, most of that was gone, imho, in canon about book 3.

I have also, rediscovered my problems with naming OC's especially since all of them are OC's by definition.  I just get locked up trying to come up with names for people, now the AI's...they are easy as thier names are just derivitizations of longer names.

Back to the trenches.

I echo your hope but I'm not holding my breath.

Sorry, American here. But I agree that Hermoine grew out of her Ugly Duckling phase in GOF at the latest and IMO Emma never had one.

Um, do baby name books help? With the OC naming I mean.

I actually have been using the net to search by names for nationalities, though since majority of the characters for the new are Americans, as it's in American, I don't have to "write British" I can just use a phone book, or my favorite trick, look at the books scattered around my house and come up with new combinations from the authors and characters.

However, after watching BBC america, I will put forth that the majority of the difference appears to be in the pronunciation, not the words.

Yeah, Harry realized she was pretty, at least as of GOF...I'm still not sure Ron knows.

That works. I like the idea of matching up names from different books.

And I'll agree that apart from some slang, pronunciation is more different than word choice.

*giggles* He may not. She's a girl, but he didn't seem eager to date her in HBP did he? Not when there's an easy snog like Lav-lav around. *gags*

You'd think that true wuv would have jumped right on that opportunity. But noooo, we had, as your icon says 652 pages of angst. I suppose crack is a worse problem across the pond.

I guess so. Heh. It's not twu wuv. It's adolescent bickering that's suspiciously similar to sibling behavior.

Definitely a nice effort not to make it all a waste of paper...

Nope, still haven't seen it.

Yes, it's a large problem. I had enough trouble naming three kids. Much less your incredible number of OCs.

Honestly I am beginning to doubt if any ships will survive the massacre of DH. But hey at least it is freindly to the environment.

Naming can be a very complex duty. Is that why you haven't come up with the names for Bill and Fleur's sprogs?

If you'd like help, I would love to help get some names for you. I'd love to add them to the "Looking Glass" family tree I've been crafting--

Unless, of course, you don't want me to do that and would prefer I not say anything. Just tell me. Unfortunately, the artwork I did for "Circle's End" was to complex and detailed for you to post on your livejournal account. I'm making the family tree to be much more accommodating and simplistic without as many finite details. Assuming you want me to even do it, I'd love any input you would have. It's my way of giving back.

I'd love to talk about the development of Hermione. By book five she has definitely found her groove- which, of course, is completely destroyed in book six when she acts like someone else completely. My close comrades and I were talking the other day, that maybe Emma Watson was a little to cute/pretty to play Hermione. In the first three books, she's portrayed as an annoying know-it-all who isn't really attractive in any physical way- she seems to be around all to often because Harry needed a female/intellgence anchor, to counteract Ron, who has none of those talents (it could be argued seriously that Rons only real use is a perfunctary one as Harry's required "best friend") Look at the artwork of her-- even on HBP! She looks like a lumpy potato! An interesting thing about the covers of the HP books is that as each book and year appears, the Mary GrandPre artwork of the characters (Harry) becomes more defined and stylized. More realistic. In OotP, JKR develops her with much more depth-we see her annoying braininess in the presents she gives Harry and Ron for X-mas, but she's much more confident physically and socially. All the shots we've seen so far of her shows her with some sort of scowl on her face, and that had me worried, until I saw the picture you posted of Harry and Hermione. Where dod you get that?! I have to add it to my Emma Watson shrine ;-)

That said, for me personally, Emma has defined the character of Hermione Granger. I've never seen an actress with as much grace and talent since Natalie Portman

Of course, my roots are in the movies first, then the books. So my POV is different.

That and I'm just crazy 8-)
